What this site collects, which is close to nothing
No accounts, no forms, no mailing list and no tracking scripts. The honest exceptions are ordinary web-server logs and whatever a company's own site does after you follow a commercial link away from here.
The short version
Bracket Math is a set of static files. There is nothing to log into, nothing to fill in and nothing to subscribe to, so there is no database of readers anywhere and no way for us to build one. No advertising network, analytics script or social widget is loaded on any page.
Cookies
No page here stores a cookie in your browser. Nothing on this site needs to remember you between visits, so nothing tries to.
Following a commercial link is the exception, and it is worth being precise about. Those links go through an address on this domain that redirects you to the company; the company's own site then does whatever its own privacy policy says, which is out of our hands and worth reading if it matters to you. We are not told who you are at any point in that sequence.
Server logs
The machine serving these files keeps the standard web-server record of requests: the address asked for, the time, the response code, the browser's own description of itself, and the IP address the request came from. That is how a web server works rather than a choice we made, and it is what makes it possible to notice that a page is broken. Those records are not joined to anything else, not sold, and not shared.
Fonts and files
The two typefaces are served from this domain along with everything else, so loading a page makes no request to a font service or any other third party. Every drawing on the site is drawn in the page itself. There is no embedded video, no map and no comment system.
Health information
This site never asks for any, and the absence of forms is a deliberate part of that. Do not send clinical details, images of your teeth or medical history to the contact address — we cannot use them, we are not qualified to read them, and the honest place for them is a practice that can examine you.
Asking about your data
If you want to know whether a server log holds a request from you, or want one removed, write to [email protected] with rough timings and we will look. Given how little is held, the answer is usually short.
